Bio

Magazine Publisher
Kandace Chapple is the co-publisher and editor of Grand Traverse Woman Magazine in Traverse City, Michigan. Her column, “Momma Ain’t Happy,” has been a reader favorite for 8 years. She writes both fiction and non-fiction.

Freelance Writer
She writes for her own publication as well as other regional publications in Michigan. Her specialty is writing stories where the women are personable and memorable. And funny and inspirational. See her portfolio samples at SheWrites.

Writer
Kandace also writes fiction and non-fiction, often while hiding from her children. She has written two books, one fiction (her first and worst, never to see the light of day), and the other semi-fiction (where she wishes much of it wasn't true) titled Momma Ain't Happy. This is a book about love and revenge for - and by - mothers. Kandace is writing her third book called The Monday Night Bike Club about the trials and trails of three women who ride for the laughter and the therapy.

TV
Kandace is interviewed regularly on the local NBC-affiliate about all things funny and female.

Women's Events
Each month, she hosts women’s network nights and luncheons (that usually sell-out!) with approx. 150 women in attendance. She also co-hosts the 2-day GTWoman Exp(o!), which draws 1,800 women each fall. Her magazine’s website gets 10,000 visitors each month.

Motherhood
She was also a founding member of the GTMoms Club. She is an active and passionate advocate for women with attitude and likes to bring women together to laugh and ignore their children.

Awards
For the past six years, Kandace has been recognized in the top 40Under40 list by the Traverse City Business News. The 40Under40 list compiles the most influential people in the region each year. Kandace looks about in surprise each time she makes the cut. In addition, GTWoman was awarded one of the Top 10 businesses in the Traverse City Area in 2007. In 2010, they were nominated as one of the Top 10 businesses in Michigan.

Causes
Kandace is an advocate for many area organizations including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, American Cancer Society, Domestic Abuse Programs, March of Dimes and more. She was named the Honorary Co-Chair for March of Dimes Chefs Auction in 2009.

In a Nutshell
Kandace has two sons, ages 7 and 9, a husband, a MacBook Pro and a mountain bike. She recently upgraded from an iFake to the iPhone.
